Hotmail
Hotmail is a webmail service launched in 1996 and rebranded as Outlook in 2013. Its basic features include sending, receiving, and replying to emails, managing contacts, creating tasks, and many more. In fact, users can still use @hotmail.com when signing up for a new email address.
Transition to Outlook.com
Outlook.com's first version, called beta, came out in 2012. Customers who already used Hotmail could freely switch to the preview version of Outlook.com and back to Hotmail. On February 18, 2013, Outlook.com moved out of the preview stage. The update went into effect on April 3, 2013. Users kept their Hotmail accounts and could choose to have a @outlook.com email address instead. By May 2013, about 400 million people used Outlook.com every month.
