How to create a Snapchat account?

Snapchat is one of the most popular messaging apps that allows users to share photos, videos, drawings, and text. What makes it different from other apps of its category is that pictures and messages are only available on the recipient's phone after just a few seconds. They will become inaccessible after that. This article shows you how to create a Snapchat account on both a computer and a mobile device (Android, iOS).

How to create a Snapchat account?

On a computer

Step 1: Go to https://accounts.snapchat.com/accounts/signup

Step 2: Now you will see a registration form. You will provide some information including:

1. Your first and last name.
2. Your username - It's the Snapchat ID that other users can use to look up and add you. You cannot change your Snapchat username after you've created it. So choose carefully.
3. Your password.
4. Your birthday - You must be at least 13 to sign up for a Snapchat account.

Step 3: Click Sign Up & Accept.

Step 4: A text message with a verification code has been sent to your phone number. Check your phone and enter the code into the box then click Verify.

If you don't receive any code, click SEND NEW CODE and check your mobile again.

Your account has been successfully created!

On a mobile device (Android, iOS)

Make sure you've downloaded the Snapchat app for Android and iOS. You can find it on the Play Store or App Store.

Step 1: Open the Snapchat app on your device.

Step 2: Tap SIGN UP.

Step 3: Tap Continue then tap ALLOW three times.

Step 4: Enter your first and last name in the provided spaces then tap Sign Up & Accept.

Step 5: Enter your birthday by sliding the wheel then tap Continue.

Step 6: Enter a username then tap Continue.

Your username must be unique. If it has already been taken, you will see an error message. If so, please select another one.

Step 7: Enter your password then tap Continue.

To create a strong password, use a combination of capital, lowercase letters, symbols, and numbers.

Step 8: Enter your email address then tap Continue. This email is used to verify any changes that you make to your account.

Step 9: Enter your mobile phone number then tap Continue. Please use the number associated with the device on which the Snapchat app is installed.

Step 10: As that phone number is associated with your device, the confirmation code box will be automatically filled. Tap Continue.

Step 11: Your Snapchat account has been created successfully.

Snapchat will now scan your contacts list to find other people using Snapchat. You can tap + Add to add them as friends or tap Skip to decide later.
