How to recover a forgotten Gmail password

Step 1: Go to gmail.com and click Sign In at the top right.

2. Google will send a verification code to your phone number via an SMS text message or a phone call. 

3. Enter the code into the box and click Next.

4. Next, type your new password twice to make sure that you typed it correctly, and select Change Password.

Recover your Gmail password using your alternate email address

1. Enter your recovery email address and select Send.

2. A verification code has been emailed to your recovery email address. You must open the email given by Google with the verification code, type it into the box, and then click Next.

3. Type your new password twice and select Change Password.

Recover a Gmail password without a recovery phone number or email address

If you do not have access to your other phone number or email address, click I don't have my phone number or Try another way, Gmail may ask you some questions to verify that you are the account owner. You must type your response and click Next or click Try another way until you find a question you can answer. Follow the subsequent on-screen instructions to reset your password. You may be required to give an alternative email address that Google can use to contact you following the review of your request. Google will contact you within three to five business days.
