How to Take a Screenshot on Windows 10 and Windows 11

Windows 11 has a new look and feel and a lot of new features, but its core is not that different from Windows 10. Basically, all methods that work on Windows 10 will also work on Windows 11. If you want to take a picture of your computer screen, there are different ways to do it in Windows 10 and Windows 11. How to Take a Screenshot on Windows 10 and Windows 11

1. Take a screenshot with the Print Screen button

The PrtSc button is a core Windows function. This key is on all Windows keyboards and will record whatever is on your screen at the time you press it.

In terms of the Print Screen button feature, Windows 11 is no different from its predecessor. The Print Screen function can be used in different ways depending on your purpose.

Full-screen capture

Pressing the Print Screen button once will capture your entire screen to the clipboard.

After this operation, use the key combination CTRL + V to paste it into another application such as Word, OneNote, etc.

Capture the full screen and automatically save it to a folder

Use the key combination Win + Print Screen.

This key combination will also capture the entire screen, but it is different from pressing the Prt sc button. Instead of copying your screenshot to the clipboard, it will save the image in the Pictures > Screenshots folder.

Capture a selected window

Photos will be saved by default in Videos > Captures.

2. Take a Screenshot Using the Snipping Tool

1. Press Windows + S or search for a Snipping Tool.

2. Open the app and click Mode. You will see different options (Rectangular Snip, Windows Snip, Free-form Snip, and Full-screen Snip).

3. Click the New button.

4. Use the mouse to select the area you want to capture, depending on the Mode you choose. The tool will automatically transfer your screenshot to the clipboard. From here, you can paste or save the image on your Windows 10 and 11 PC.

3. Take a Screenshot Using Snip & Sketch

The new Snip & Sketch tool will gradually replace the Snipping Tool. This tool basically provides the same features as the original tool. The interface is the biggest change that brings a more modern look and is consistent with Windows 10 and 11.

One notable addition to Snip & Sketch is that you can edit the screenshot by adding text, shapes, or highlights directly in the preview window.

You can enable the Snip & Sketch tool easily by using the keyboard shortcut Windows Key + Shift + S.

4. Take a Screenshot Using the Xbox GameBar

To use the Game Bar, press the key combination Windows + G or use the Start menu to search.

When the app opens, click the camera icon in its taskbar. This will capture your entire screen.

Even though Xbox Game Bar is a game app, it has some cool screenshot features.
