How to turn on login alerts on Facebook
Once "Login Alerts" is turned on on your Facebook account, you will instantly get an alert whenever someone tries logging in or signing in to your account from a web browser or a device that Facebook can’t recognize.
Turning on the Facebook Login Alerts feature is easy, and here’s how:
On computer
Step 1. Go to https://www.facebook.com/ and log in to your account.
Step 2. Click your profile picture at the top-right corner of the screen.
Step 3. In the menu that appears, select “Settings & privacy,” and then click “Settings.”
Step 4. On the left-hand side of the screen, select “Security and login.”
Step 5. Scroll to the “Setting up extra security” section and click “Get alerts about unrecognized logins.”
Step 6. Select where you want to get the alerts: Notifications (a Facebook notification from a recognized device) and/or Email (the alerts will be send to your email account).
Step 7. Click “Save changes.” You may be asked to enter your password at this point.
Now, you will get a Facebook notification saying that "you turned on login alerts" successfully. That’s how to turn on login alerts on Facebook on your computer!

On the Facebook mobile app
Turning on login alerts on the Facebook app is also super simple.
Step 1. Open the Facebook app on your device. Make sure your account is already logged in.
Step 2. Tap the three-line button at the bottom right of the screen (if you are using the Facebook app for iOS) or at the top right of the screen (if you are using the Facebook app for Android).
Step 3. Scroll down to the bottom and tap “Settings & privacy.” Next, tap “Settings.”
Step 4. Under the Account section, tap “Password and security.”
Step 5. Next, scroll down to the “Setting up extra security” section and tap “Get alerts about unrecognized logins.”
Step 6. Select where you want to get the alerts: Notifications and/or Email.
If you want to get the login alert via a Facebook notification from a recognized device, tap Notifications, then select "Get notifications," and tap “Save.” Next, enter your password and follow the instructions to finish.
If you want to get the login alert from your email account, tap Email, then choose the email you want the alerts to be sent to. Next, tap “Save,” then enter your password, and follow the instructions to finish.
Note:
After you enable login alerts, you will start receiving alerts about all the unrecognized logins.
- When you get an alert, tap or click “This was me” if you recognize that login activity.
- Tap or click “This wasn’t me” if you do not recognize that login activity. If you select this option, Facebook will help you reset the password as well as help you secure your account.
