How to Update your Instagram Profile

Updating your profile information will help your friends on Instagram find you more easily. This article shows you how to update your Instagram profile information on both the Instagram app and web browser.

How to update your Instagram profile

On Instagram.com

Step 1: Go to https://www.instagram.com and log into your account.

Step 2: Click or tap the Profile icon at the top right to go to your profile page.

Step 3: Click or tap Edit Profile.

Step 4: The profile edit section is on the right.

Now you can change:

1. Your name
2. Your username
3. Website
4. Bio
5. Your email address and phone number (this will help you a lot in case you can't access your account). 
6. Gender
7. Your profile photo

To change your profile photo, click Edit Profile Photo, select a photo from your computer and click Open.

Notes:

• There are some character limits for your information. Your name, username can't be longer than 30 letters, and your bio can't be longer than 150 characters.
• The Similar Account Suggestions option will make your account more visible by recommending it to other people when they follow similar accounts. 

Step 5: Click Submit when you're done. 

On the Instagram app

Step 1: Open the Instagram app on your mobile device.

Step 2: Tap in the bottom-right corner to go to your profile.

Step 3: Tap Edit Profile.

Step 4: You can change:

1. Your name
2. Your username
3. Website
4. Bio
5. Your email address
6. Your phone number
7. Your gender
8. Your profile photo

To change your profile photo, tap Change Photo (Android) or the Edit button right under your profile icon (iPhone). Then, select where you'd like to import your picture from and select the photo you want as your profile picture.

Step 5: Tap Done (iPhone) or  (Android) to save your changes.
